Post Processing

Journal, Machines, Play, Technique — Thursday, October 9, 2008
I’ve been in some weird processing phase the last few months.  I think I need to head to a car show and see if the phase has passed.

The Green Tigers

Journal, Sports — Wednesday, October 8, 2008
I was looking through old soccer images from 2006.  The footwork in this one just struck me as funny compared to some of the playing we’ve seen the last few days.

Fat Albert

Event, Journal, Machines — Tuesday, October 7, 2008
Here’s Fat Albert from the Blue Angels team.  There was no JATO for the daylight show.

Miramar Air Show

Event, Journal, Machines, Technique — Monday, October 6, 2008
The air show this year was great!  We had a mix of everything from clear skies to overcast conditions.   I should have plenty of images to share.  Here’s the AT-6 Trainer “War Dog.”  I spent a lot of time playing with slow shutter speeds and panning because it has been so long since I last practiced.  I like the way the panning technique helped to clean up this background a bit.

No Soccer

Journal, Sports — Friday, October 3, 2008
We won’t make it to the soccer game this weekend.  It’s off to the air show!  Partly cloudy skies would be nice.

Over the weekend

Journal, Sports — Thursday, October 2, 2008
Tom and I went to watch the college kids play soccer last weekend.  I learned just how quickly things can happen in soccer.  I had a hard time keeping up.  It was fun to be pushed & challenged.  I want to go back soon and get more practice.

Air Show

Journal, Machines — Wednesday, October 1, 2008
We are going to the Miramar Air Show this weekend.  Wish I’d dropped my camera off for the buffer upgrade, it would be helpful.  I’ll have a different perspective on the F/A-18 this year.

Remembering Peaches

Animals, Journal, People — Tuesday, September 30, 2008
Tom’s hamster Peaches went to the big hamster wheel in the sky last Tuesday.  She was a good little hamster.  We laugh about the time she escaped and had her big adventure in the bathroom for 24 hours.  I hope there are plenty of crickets for her to eat up there.

Remote action

Journal, Sports — Monday, September 29, 2008
I’m starting to have a little bit of success using the remotes.  Turns out it is a lot more work, and more difficult than I imagined.  I wouldn’t want to rely totally on remote cameras, it is hit or miss at best.  I never would have intentionally framed this image the way it appears, but I consider it success nevertheless.  The light wasn’t what I wanted so I decided to experiment and try to learn something instead of shooting.

The Indians

Humor, Journal, Play — Friday, September 26, 2008
From the city walk a few weeks ago.  I was running around exploring and playing with a Coolpix.  It was a nice change of pace.
